Skills Development & Training
As Canada accelerates the commercialization and adoption of innovative technologies in our healthcare system, OBIO® recognizes that the life sciences and health tech sectors are growing rapidly. This growth also presents challenges, one of which is meeting the critical need for a skilled workforce across the sectors, from start-ups to mid-sized and large organizations.
One of the key pillars of OBIO’s programming is to prepare for and capitalize on creating high-value jobs to support talent development in healthcare innovation. Through our Skills Development and Training offerings, we help life sciences and health tech companies recruit and develop industry-ready talent, offer entrepreneurship programs to ensure the continuum of talent from early career to leadership and the C-suite, and collaborate with partners in the academic ecosystem to develop and nurture an industry-ready workforce.
Active Training and Upskilling Programs
Biomanufacturing for Advanced Therapies Training Program
The program focuses on both conceptual and practical skills essential to the development and manufacturing of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), with a curriculum developed through extensive collaborations with companies in the sector developing CGTs and tailored to meet their specialized workforce needs.
Health Science Technology Training for Software and Data Professionals
The training program will provide focused, digital technology development upskilling to help fast-growing companies access the talent they need to thrive and prosper, while creating new career paths for workers to quickly transition into high-demand roles.
