OBIO® celebrates 15th anniversary with fresh new look

New visual identity reinforces our commitment to fostering innovations in life sciences

December 3, 2024 (Toronto, Ontario) – Celebrating 15 years of advancing health technology innovation and commercialization, Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization (OBIO®) is delighted to announce its brand transformation. The new identity, including a new logo, colour palette, and name change to ‘OBIO®’ speaks closely to our renewed commitment and vision of supporting cutting-edge innovations across Canada. It reflects our growing national presence and collaborations with partners across all regions of Canada.

The reimagined OBIO® brand embodies our impact within and beyond Ontario, and positions OBIO® as an organization dedicated to support and advance pan-Canadian innovations.

Fostering innovation and collaboration across Canada

Over the past 15 years, OBIO® has worked tirelessly towards the mission of addressing the needs of the next generation of companies developing innovative human health products. Through our programs and initiatives, we have:

  • Supported small-medium enterprises (SMEs) and introduced them to 600+ investors

  • Equipped 1,000+ Canadians with the skills and knowledge to secure employment

  • Vetted 250+ innovative technologies to facilitate their adoption into the health system through OBIO’s Early Adopter Health Network (EAHN™)

  • Connected 700+ women through networking events hosted by the OBIO® Women in Health Initiative (WiHI)

Exemplifying the expansion of our reach and impact in the last two years, we are proud to have launched two national programs, both funded by Upskill Canada, powered by Palette Skills, and the Government of Canada, to address the needs of Canada’s fast-growing life sciences & health industry and support professionals navigating career journeys in biomanufacturing and digital technology.

Looking ahead with new visual identity and fresh energy

The new OBIO® logo is characterized by a symbol made of shapes of different sizes coming together to form a cohesive whole, by the roundness of the font, and by a contemporary colour palette. It is forward looking and reinforces OBIO’s identity as a catalyst in the life sciences ecosystem across Canada.

As we reflect on our 15-year journey, we are excited to embrace the future to reaffirm our vision, mission, and values of making Canada a leader for the commercialization of life sciences and health tech innovations. Rebranding OBIO® will better position us to engage with the diverse life sciences community across Canada and drive a stronger collective impact.

“This branding transformation is a significant milestone showcasing OBIO’s role and impact in the vibrant life sciences ecosystem of which we are very proud to be a part. The new visual identity, thoughtfully aligned with our 15th anniversary celebration, ushers us into an exciting time, both in OBIO’s journey and the evolving Canadian life sciences industry,” said Dr. Maura Campbell, President and CEO, OBIO®.
